Atlas-of-Remote-Islands.cover.JPG

My wife bought me this fantastic book for Christmas this year. As well as a very beautiful book to look at and to keep in your bookshelf, it is a real treasure to read!

Judith Schalansky was born on the wrong side of the Berlin wall and her only way to travel as a child was through an atlas. Later, she decided to create her own atlas which takes us across 50 remote islands – from Iwo Jima to Tristana da Cunha and from Easter Island to Disappointment Island. The maps are drawn by herself and accompanied by mysterious stories from the islands about rare animals, lonely scientists and lost explorers.
